Marcus Rashford hints at Manchester United Exit: “I’m ready for new challenge”

Marcus Rashford has signaled a potential departure from Manchester United, stating he is “ready for a new challenge”.

This comes after the English man was omitted from manager Ruben Amorim’s squad for Sunday’s 2-1 derby win against Manchester City.

The 27-year-old, alongside teammate Alejandro Garnacho, was dropped due to subpar training performances and off-field concerns.

Rashford, who has seen his form dip this season, admitted the decision was “disheartening” but insists he is prepared to move forward.

“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” Rashford said during a school event in Manchester.

“When I leave, it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings.’ I don’t want to leave on bad terms or create drama.”

Rashford has faced criticism for disciplinary issues, including missing team meetings and training sessions under previous manager Erik ten Hag.

Despite Amorim offering a “clean slate,” Rashford’s remarks indicate his mind may already be set on leaving Old Trafford, nearly nine years after his first-team debut.

The forward signed a lucrative £325,000-a-week contract in July 2023, which could see United demand a hefty fee should he move in the January transfer window.

However, sources suggest significant European interest is lacking, with the Saudi Pro League emerging as a likely destination.

Addressing criticism from fans, Rashford said, “I do feel misunderstood, but I’m fine with it. Football has been my life from the beginning. I’ve learned a lot over nine years here, but I have my own dreams, and I’m not where I want to be yet.”

Manchester United, currently rebuilding under Amorim, face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals on Thursday, where Rashford’s role remains uncertain.
