While reacting to the leadership adjustments, former spokesperson Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, reiterated his commitment to the NEF’s goals and highlighted the organization’s rich history of advocating for the North through policy recommendations, advocacy, and partnerships.
He reaffirmed its commitment to remaining a united and cohesive body, capable of navigating diverse opinions while maintaining a shared focus on its goals.

Suleiman said: “The appointment of a new spokesperson and the shift in my own role are procedural changes, not indicative of any underlying conflict or alteration of the Forum’s core principles. The NEF remains steadfast in its commitment to addressing the numerous challenges facing the Northern region, working tirelessly towards a brighter future for its people. The unity and strength of the NEF remain intact, and our dedication to our shared objectives remains unwavering.

“This involves a diverse range of activities, from advocacy and policy recommendations to facilitating collaborations with relevant bodies and civil society organizations (CSOs). Suleiman stressed the structured and collaborative nature of its operations, adding: “The appointment of Professor Abubakar Jidda Jiddere as the new spokesperson is equally part of this routine procedural adjustment. The NEF operates under a well-defined structure, with roles and responsibilities clearly delineated.

“The transition in this particular position is not unusual and should not be interpreted as a symptom of internal division or discord. Quite the contrary, the new spokesperson is a highly competent individual with a proven track record of effective communication and leadership.

“He possesses a deep understanding of the NEF’s objectives and a strong commitment to its mission. His appointment followed a rigorous internal selection process, emphasizing his capabilities and suitability for this crucial role.

“It is imperative that all stakeholders, including the media and the general public, extend their full support to him, enabling him to effectively discharge his duties and represent the NEF’s position accurately and effectively. Constructive collaboration is vital to the success of any organization, and this includes providing the necessary support for those entrusted with leadership positions.

“It is crucial to dispel any misconceptions about internal conflict within the NEF. We remain a united and cohesive body, bound by a common vision and unwavering commitment to the development and betterment of the Northern region.”
