Bundesliga: Bremen strike late to frustrate Victor Boniface effort

Bayer Leverkusen let a lead slip for the second time in a week, settling for a 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion.

While Leverkusen dominated possession in the first half, they struggled to find clear scoring opportunities.

Werder Bremen also missed early chances, including a tame chip attempt by Marvin Ducksch.

Leverkusen eventually broke the deadlock through Nigerian forward Victor Boniface, who converted a cross from Jeremie Frimpong to put the visitors ahead.

In the second half, Leverkusen failed to extend their lead despite forcing some critical saves from Bremen’s goalkeeper Michael Zetterer.

Bremen’s persistence paid off in the 74th minute when Ducksch equalized with a header.

Leverkusen regained the lead shortly afterward, courtesy of an own goal from Felix Agu.

However, Bremen fought back and Romano Schmid struck a powerful long-range shot in the 90th minute to level the game.
