Afrobeats sensation Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr opens up about the grounding influence of her family life despite her growing fame and success.
In an interview with Coco Jones for Rolling Stone’s Musicians on Musicians series, Ayra shared that she continues to live with her family when she’s back in Nigeria, embracing the everyday joys and occasional chaos that come with it.
“When I go back home [to Nigeria], I still live with my family. My brothers are making noise playing video games,” she said.
Ayra also revealed that she relies on her friends for personal style advice, often reaching out to them through a group chat to get their opinions on her outfits.
She added, “I still involve my friends in my life. We have a group chat where I solicit their opinions on what I wear. I thank God for my friends and family. Although, sometimes, it gets overwhelming and I have to disappear.”
