Man finds out wife scams him N500k per term on children’s school fees

A Europe-based Nigerian man is left heartbroken after discovering that his wife inflated their children’s school fees, pocketing an extra ₦500,000 per term.

The story, shared by Chukwudi Iwuchukwu on Facebook, has sparked widespread debate on trust and financial transparency in marriages.

According to Iwuchukwu’s post, the couple’s two children attend a school in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, where the fees per term total ₦500,000 (₦250,000 per child). However, the wife allegedly told her husband the fees were ₦1 million per term, prompting him to send the inflated amount for each payment.

The scheme unravelled when the man learned the truth from a friend whose children attend the same school. Shocked by the discrepancy, he decided to verify the fees directly with the school and was devastated to confirm the fraud.

How my wife scammed me of N500K per term on kids’ school fees

“The kids school fee for the 2 kids that this couple living in Amuwo Odofin Lagis have together is 500k, which is 250k per term for one. Madam told Oga that it is 1 million that is the school fees, and since Oga has no reason to doubt the wife, he has been sending the money unfailingly to Madam to pay when the school fees are due to be remitted.

Only for one of Oga’s friends who has his own kids in the school to casually mention the amount he pays as school fees to his friend when they were discussing school fees on WhatsApp. Oga thought the man was lying; the wife of 8 years, the wife of his youth, can’t lie to him now.

He is back to Nigeria now for Christmas break from his base in Europe, where he stays, and on Friday, he went to confirm from the school without his wife’s knowledge how much the kids school fees are. A shocked man discovered to his chagrin that his wife has been scamming him of 500k every term all this while.

Why would she do that? He said in tears to his friends, who he brought the matter to. If this woman asks me for 500k, I can easily dash her. Why scam it from me in this dubious manner? By betraying me in this manner? I don’t deserve it.

A traumatised man laments Even me too; I was shocked too. So a partner can scam their partner like this and think it does not matter. Wahala, and truly, we are living in an extraordinary time as a country.”
