South-West betrayed the North – X user claims

An X user, identified simply as Sarki, has stated that the South West betrayed the Northern region of the country.

He made this claim in a tweet on Monday, stating that the years of partnership between both regions have been shattered.

He highlighted greed of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the cause for the loss of the good relationship enjoyed by both regions.

Sarki stated that 80 per cent of Nigeria’s wealth is being channeled to the people of the South Western region.

Netizens have however disagreed with this analogy.

An X user, @Northerner, stated, “The north hasn’t been betrayed, please.

They were selfish and didn’t care about their people, and that’s what happened.

We had a president from the north for 8 years who had the power to fix things for the north, but he let us down!

Let’s stop blaming the president for prioritizing his region over ours, we had our chance!”

Another tweep, @mind talks wrote, “The North betrayed and destroyed Nigeria as it produced the most leaders since 1960.”

Another user, Semilore, stated, “South west does not owe you any loyalty, but common interest. Stop this nonsense rhetorics that the south west betrayed the North. We didn’t promise you anything but common interests. The North is not bigger, greater and senior to other regions. Dead this nonsense.”
