Super Eagles to get substantive head coach soon – Pinnick
Former president of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick, has said the football house is working round the clock to appoint a substantive head coach for the Super Eagles.
Former international, Augustine Eguavoen, who is also the technical director of the NFF has managed the Super Eagles in interim capacity since September, 2024.
Despite guiding the team to 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification, the NFF are not willing to allow Eguavoen stay on as substantive head coach of the three-time African champions.
Instead, they are going on with their plans of appointing an expatriate to tinker the team.
“Any moment from now, I am sure they would be announcing a coach, an enterprising coach at that,” Pinnick, who is currently a FIFA council member said in an interview on Channels Television.
The Super Eagles next assignment is a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.
