They alleged irregularities and a compromised electoral process are the basis for challenging  the outcome of the results announced by INEC.

In an interview with the Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, confirmed that the PDP is dedicated to respecting the rule of law.

According to Ologunagba, the party’s legal team and officials are meticulously examining the election results.

Ologunagba said, “We are a party of law and order. We believe in the rule of law, and we don’t resort to self-help like the APC does. They have compromised institutions of elections — INEC and the police. But we believe that ultimately, the will of the people will prevail.

“Our team of lawyers and party officials are reviewing the results, and I am sure in the next couple of days, you will see the position of the party, which will be reflected in the actions we take.”

He assured that the PDP’s position would soon be made public and reflected in the party’s legal actions.

Ologunagba expressed concern about the state of Nigeria’s democratic institutions, particularly the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which he accused of failing to maintain independence.

INEC is supposedly independent, but it has corrupted itself by refusing to follow its own rules. The challenges of our democracy lie in the weakness of our institutions,” he remarked.
