Liam Delap’s brilliant double helped Ipswich Town secure an impressive 2-2 draw against Aston Villa at Portman Road.
The 21-year-old striker, formerly of Manchester City, opened the scoring just eight minutes into the match, giving the newly promoted side an early lead.
Aston Villa responded quickly, with Morgan Rogers equalizing in the 15th minute after a slick one-two with Ollie Watkins inside the box.
Watkins then put Villa ahead 13 minutes before halftime, heading in unmarked to complete the comeback.
Ipswich pressed for an equalizer after the break and were rewarded in the 72nd minute when Delap dazzled with two step-overs before rifling the ball into the far corner, leveling the game at 2-2.
The draw lifts Ipswich to 15th place, moving them out of the relegation zone.
On the other hand, Villa missed the chance to move level on points with league leaders Liverpool.
Instead, the spoils allowed Chelsea move up to the top-four position, while Unai Emery’s side stay fifth.
